Giuliani’s 12 Transgressions Against Conservative Principles

  1. Increased government spending in NYC by 30% and sued the federal government to stop the President’s line item veto power to cut wasteful spending.
  2. Quit Iraq Study Panel after being asked to step down for missing meetings because of paid speaking engagements and political fundraisers.,0,3346730.story
  3. As Mayor, sued 26 gun manufacturers in June 2000 for producing too many handguns.
  4. Supported President Clinton’s proposal for increasing federal gun licensing requirements. Speech given to Citizens Crime Comission on March 6, 1997, 8:15 a.m.
  5. While Mayor Rudy Giuliani appointed liberal Judges over conservative judges at the rate of 8 to 1.
  6. Appointed as Judge, an officer of the International Association of Lesbian and Gay Judges.
  7. Appointed as Judge an abortion-rights supporter who later made it to the federal bench in part because New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer, a liberal Democrat, said he liked her ideology.
  8. Appointed Planned Parenthood Board Member Joy Corning as Co-Chair of Campaign in Iowa.
  9. Kelli Conlin, the head of NARAL Pro-Choice New York, the state’s leading abortion-rights group praised Giuliani’s judicial appointments saying, “They were decent, moderate people”.
  10. March 8, 2004 while living with a gay Manhattan couple after moving out of Gracie Mansion during his divorce, Giuliani publically opposed President Bush’s call for a ban on Gay marriage saying, “I certainly wouldn’t support [a ban] at this time.”
  11. “I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,” Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. He responded by saying, “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing.”, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999
